Unpack! The garden cottage has beautiful antique armor/dresser for long stays.
We proudly supply luxurious white terry bathrobes-freshly laundered for each guest's stay. Hotel pillows and slippers (for you to alone) are provided for each guest. Use and take home or toss at the end of your stay.
Take a load off, and relax with some tunes from your very own iPhone playlist using our iHome dual alarm clock/speaker with a blue tooth range of 30 ft.

Property access:
The property is secured with a gate code entry and guests have easy key code entry to the cottage, which is provided once guest secure their reservation dates through this site. Additionally, the property offers ample space for large horse/cattle trailers, jet ski’s etc. (easy access and turn around drive).
Guest interaction:
We keep to ourselves and let our guest enjoy their stay. Guest are likely to see us caring for the cats, chickens, cows, horse
goats, guinea fowl, and bunnies each morning and night, some gardening here and there. Our chickens free range the fields during the day and are put up at night for safety. If we are not on the property during your stay you will be provided a phone number to text for any local assistance or emergency. The Ridge Cottage does not have a landline. We're happy to be as accommodating with your requests as we can be. Because we do travel ourselves we have house sitters who house sit if we happen to be away during your stay.
Other things to note:
The property is located on 20 acres on the crest of The Ridge overlooking 1185, 281 and 254 with a dynamic view of the valley and Texas stars . We currently do not accept animals/pets.
Our guest are welcome to walk and sit in the garden, or visit the farm animals.

We get rave reviews and often read/hear in the online reviews and guest book that we “HAVE SET THE BAR” for VRBO’s....!
It’s true, Christine doesn’t mess around with the cleanliness or the details of our VRBO cottage. Having traveled worldwide for many years she knows guests want! Even corporate 5 star hotel cleanliness ... is NOT good enough!
The run down: 👇🏼
In the cottage, anything that can be cleaned, sanitized, or laundered is for each new booking.
⭐️The floors are not just vacuumed for each guest they are also steamed.
WHY? Well because, a steam cleaner kills 99.9% of household germs, including salmonella, E. Coli and Staphylococcus, as well as dust mites and surface mold.
⭐️Area rugs that can go into our full capacity washer get washed for each new guest and the two that cannot because of size are sprayed with lysol disinfectant spray, then vacuumed.
⭐️Light switches, knobs, handles, cupboards etc- all sanitized. A/C screen cleaned for each guest. And all surfaces are dusted and cleaned, as are appliances.
Christine prepares snacks, food, refrigerator items herself and retains a food handlers license with Texas for this purpose.
⭐️Any used dishes, pots, pans, etc. are ran through a dishwasher sanitization cycle & replaced by Christine.
⭐️The Keurig coffee maker is ran through a cleaning (descaling every 3 months using a descaling solution to keep the brewer free from scale or lime build up). In between guests a bleach water solution is used to clean the outside of the kuerig, the water reservoir, then 8oz of RO filtered water is ran through the system before filling the reservoir with fresh Reverse Osmosis filtered water for new guests.
“Our guests get their space cleaned in the way that I clean my own home for my own family and we are very healthy” -Christine .
We have been extremely healthy through all the “stuff” and to our knowledge so have all our visiting guests. We’ve had no issues. On the note of cleanliness....keep in mind we are a strictly non smoking 🚭property- inside and out- Smoking is gross 🤮, dirty and unhealthy!
⭐️Our guest can look forward to an abundance of snacks, breakfast items: cereal, milk, farm fresh eggs, half & half for coffee, & makings for morning mimosas & many other amenities. Most items are organic, all are complimentary including a complimentary bottle of wine and local Mirrimac & Merrimac & North fresh baked cookies.
⭐️The above has all been our protocol long BEFORE covid... and it will stay this way.
We’ve been told numerous times that we should be charging much more but we have been happy with our guests. And we do it because Christine loves hospitality!
👉🏻 We don’t accept just anyone. If we don’t feel the cottage is a good fit for a booking request we try to be helpful & point them to another local Vrbo/Airbnb or bed & breakfast. For example: an issue with Max capacity, smoking preference, travel companions aka:fur babies...
