Positive: The apartment itself was exactly as described. It was comfortable and clean, with good facilities.
Negative: The proprietor or his agent were incredibly difficult to get hold of when we had two emergencies: 1. The lift worked for one day out of seven. Climbing up & down four very large flights of unkempt stairs was not easy for any of us, including carrying a two year old (we couldn’t let him walk as there were dangerous holes with huge falls in the walls - health and safety would have had a fit), but ruined the trip for my 93 year old father. He has a bad back and knees and walks with a stick. He never went out as walking up the stairs was terrible for him. We had to cancel restaurants and a visit to Chateau La Coste and Aix. He spent his holiday inside the apartment. We asked the proprietor to have the lift fixed several times and received no response. He never picked up his phone once! After ringing Booking.com we eventually had a message saying it would be difficult to get the lift mended over the holiday period. We were offered champagne as compensation but this was not what we wanted. We needed a working lift. 2. We were told there would be a cot for a two year old, which we had requested. On arrival there was no cot. I informed the proprietor immediately. I rushed all around Marseille looking for a travel cot (I found one only for 250 euros) and so we had to drive to a shopping centre outside Marseille where we bought a much less expensive one (around 60 euros). Without any notification whatsoever a cot was delivered to the apartment hours after I initially contacted the proprietor (in fact it was far too small for a two year old) but anyway too late as we had bought one. I asked for the cost of the cot to be reimbursed (sent a copy of the receipt and left the cot in the apartment for future guests to use) but have as yet had no response. The whole episode was incredibly stressful as my grandson can, like most two year olds, only sleep in a cot. An additional irritation: We could not use one of the three shower rooms as it had a bad smell of drains.
