Positive: The view of this place is just spectacular. You do go up hundreds of steps to get to it, which can be a bit punishing in the hot weather, but for that view it is worth it. We were there at a hot time and were grateful for AC throughout. The beds were pretty comfortable, as were the sofas. The kitchen is decently equipped with most things you will need to cook at home. The living room/kitchen/dining area of the top floor apartment is a wonderful open place space that was great to hang out in.
Negative: For the price we paid, I expected the standard of cleaning to be higher. Dusty surfaces, some furniture showing its age, what looks like mold on the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom, improperly washed plates in the cupboards - there needs to be more attention to detail on the cleaning side. Some basics were missing from the kitchen - it would be nice to have usual provisions such as tea/coffee, herbs, ditto in the bathroom with soap and shampoo, rather than just half-used leftovers from the previous guests which is what was there. The WiFi didn't work at all in the upstairs apartment, this needs to be looked at. The doors of the downstairs apartment bathrooms are weird, a very thin material. I suggest they need to be updated to something that locks, and the showers should have a proper screen door and something to hold the shower head up as needing to hold it by hand to use one of the downstairs showers is odd. I felt that the volume of communication was too much before arriving. After checking in I was repeatedly asked to do a check-in using an online form in addition to the one I had filled in before arriving. If it is this important, the host could consider meeting the guest to get the information needed. I also felt that the host could have been more hospitable; our only interaction was her listing a series of house rules to me on the afternoon of arrival. Finally, I think a 10am check-out is too early - standard time elsewhere is typically 11am. By 9.30 I could see the cleaners hovering around outside our door and they knocked as soon as it turned 10 to chuck us out. I did feel this was a bit excessive and it was a pity we could not arrange a late check-out, even for a fee. Thinking of the price paid, this lack of flexibility was a little disappointing.
