About the Property:
This luxurious and spacious log home is named Sunset Lodge because of the magnificent sunsets over the water viewed from this lakefront property. The lake side of the home faces West, is mid-lake of Toledo Bend Reservoir, and is set back in a small cove but with direct view of the main lake. The open floor plan and many windows bring the beauty of the outdoors in during day or night. Its location is only one of the qualities of this sprawling 5 + acre property with over 500 foot of water frontage. Only 10 minutes from Cypress Bend Golfing, and 5 minutes to Toledo Town, Sunset Lodge offers guests ample opportunities to enjoy a day of golfing, run to the store, or direct access to fishing one of the country's top lakes. While pets are considered, they must be under 20lbs AND approved by the Hostess before your stay.
THE HOUSE:
The home boasts over 3400 sq ft living with 4 bedrooms. There are also common spaces, such as the living and loft areas, which have additional sleeping options. Three of the bedrooms have on suite baths. The master having both the convenience of a walk in custom shower and an air jetted claw foot tub. There's nothing you can't cook in the chef's kitchen with a six burner gas range, two ovens, and two islands big enough for multiple family members to gather. The kitchen amenities should cover all of your needs, even for a families' holiday meal! If the kids need a space to hang, the loft provides for the perfect area to play some board games, cards, or the Wii gaming system (some games are provided, but feel free to bring your favorite games too). The loft is a nice space to hang out with an amazing view or snuggle up with a good book as well. The home has a large utility/laundry room also. Even with a large crowd, the two tank-less propane water heaters make sure no one will be taking a cold shower or waiting for hot water at Sunset Lodge. While pets are considered, they must be under 20lbs AND approved by the Hostess before your stay.
OUTSIDE:
Porches surround the home for shade and relaxation whether you are grilling, frying fresh caught fish, or just visiting. They're a great location for beautiful views of the water during your morning coffee and evening sunsets.
There is spacious parking on the concrete circle drive at the front of the home and in the secure 2 car garage. It is recommended if you are pulling a boat in, you turn to your left in the circle drive to keep any items on a trailer/boat from dragging as the concrete drive has a bit of a slope to the right heading down into the house. This will also be more convenient to pull into the garage. Should you experience inclement weather during your stay that results in a power outage, the home has a Generac generator that will run parts of home including the downstairs air unit.
Launching is available at various locations near the home. Your boat can be launched once, then docked at our private wharf for easy access.
ACTIVITIES:
What's to do here? Well, FISHING of course (from the bank or your boat). You can also tube on the lake or play a round of golf. Multiple board and card games as well as an Wii gaming system in the house, along with Dish network and Wifi access. We also have a kayak with life vests provided to explore the water on. You may swim in the lake at your own risk! Please stay safe as the lake level changes regularly and there is a deeper lane for boats to get in and out of the small cove the house in on. There are various bird species you can spot on our rolling 5 acres and even Eagles have been seen soaring high over the lake. You may cook In house or head out to explore the local cuisine at any of the various nearby restaurants. A short drive can lead you to quaint areas of Louisiana such as the city of Many, town of Zwolle, or head out on a day trip to Natchitoches (Louisiana's original French colony and oldest city) to explore the Cane River Walk and Downtown. If you are visiting between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Natchitoches Christmas lights are a must see and well worth the drive!
