Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Speaking as an American used to certain creature comforts, here’s an honest take for those with a similar mindset when traveling. The location is hands-down the best part of Cosmos Skyview Residence. You’re close to metro stations, grocery stores, cafés, and just a couple of stops from the Acropolis. The apartment is spacious, has multiple terraces, and the Wi-Fi is decent (though it drops off in the far half of the home without a repeater). But beyond that, there are some major drawbacks to be aware of as noted in the next section.
Negative: Beds: The mattresses were absolutely terrible — hard and uncomfortable. After long days of walking 10–12 miles (16–19 km) plus our 3–4 mile (5–6 km) runs, quality sleep was essential. Instead, it was nearly impossible for anyone in our group to get a truly restful night. Dining setup: The only “dining table” is outdoors. During our stay, temps averaged in the high 90s°F (mid-30s°C), making it unthinkable to eat outside. For a property this size, not having an indoor dining option is simply irresponsible. Air conditioning: The AC mostly worked — two bedrooms and the living area were fine — but two other bedrooms had older units that struggled. On day one, it took 10–12 hours for one room to cool. In Athens heat, strong, reliable AC is non-negotiable. Even when running, some rooms felt muggy/damp, which may be a settings issue or just weak performance. Refrigerator: Inconsistent. At times it chilled food and drinks; other times it froze them. Space is limited, and since we like to cook, the lack of storage containers meant we had to store leftovers in pans, taking up precious room. Hot water: Easily the most frustrating issue. In 8 days, I had exactly one warm shower — never hot. The owners did come and “fix” it once, which worked for one shower, then back to cold. We followed the exact instructions every time, but hot water was random at best, like playing Russian roulette. For a property at this price point, this is unacceptable. Keys: Only one set for a group of nine is ridiculous. This meant constant coordination for comings and goings. The lockbox was unreliable, with bulky keys jamming it more than once. One night, some of us returned while others were asleep inside — we were stuck outside for 30 minutes waiting to be let in. If location is your top priority and you can overlook the above, this place could work.
