2 Bedroom House in Goult

La Joliette, my little stone house which has been restored with care, enjoys an exceptional location in a calm, winding street in the medieval perched village of Goult, one of the most sought after villages in the Luberon. The view is fantastic and the countryside sumptuous with it's vineyards, lavender fields and cherry orchards. The house dates back centuries and has been beautifully restored using old materials.
Outside, on the landing, you can have breakfast or an afternoon drink in the shade of the vine and there is a beautiful vaulted cellar with exposed stonework, where you can keep cool in the summer. Come and experience genuine French village life in one of the most beautiful villages in France!
I also have another small house in Goult, "La Pitchounette" (property n° 1437837) advertised on this site as well as a studio apartment outside St.Saturnin-lès-Apt "La Remise" (property no 806593).
About Goult: Goult (population about 1.200) is still relatively unspoilt and less touristy than the other villages and has a very friendly and lively atmosphere with plenty of shops and restaurants, all within a couple of minutes walk from the house. There is a grocery store, a butcher, a bakery, a post office, several restaurants, and the 'famous' Café de la Poste, where lunch is served "en terrasse" in the summer and where you can find foreign language newspapers, order a café au lait in the morning, check your emails and do some people watching. So if you feel like staying put, there is no need to get into the car. A few of the open air markets are a must though. The Coustellet farmer's market on Sunday mornings is my favorite and all the best goodies of Provence can be found there: fruit & veggies, wine, cheeses, cured hams and sausages, olives and olive oil... The markets in Apt and in L'Isle sur la Sorgue are not to be missed either!

Summary: La Joliette is a simple village house on 3 levels: a useful cool basement built into the rock with cosy sofas and soft lighting ideal for resting on hot afternoons and stowing bikes and wine; up pretty vine sheltered steps to a living room, kitchen and shower room; a winding stone staircase to a pretty double and a single bedroom. Eva had provided all the little essentials sometime missing in a rental property from detergent to wine rack, bin bags, kitchen condiments, umbrella etc. Quality towels, flannels, tea towls and bed linen were provided. The antique and vintage items added to the charm and the lovely big mirrors made the tiny but cosy living room feel more spacious. True the kitchen and bathroom are tiny and the lack of air conditioning was a challenge in the heatwave (there are two big fans instead) but this is simple living. The main bedroom is lovely with a pretty window looking out over gardens and rooftops across to the mountains and perched villages on the other side of the valley. An absolutely stunning view. The location is perfect in a quiet lane a few minutes from the main square. Goult is charming, friendly, not over touristed and ideally located for visiting the area. It is easier to walk around than some of the higher villages. Eva was helpful and friendly and communication throughout was easy and efficient.
