Hi, I'm Paula. I fell in love with this house when it was still a ruin to be restored: it had character and you could enjoy a wonderful view from the terrace. I was also struck by the peace, the silence broken by the trilling of the canaries and the solemnity of the place, observed from above from Teide, the great volcano. This is why I put my whole heart into both the conservative restoration of the house and then the setting up. And now it's a cozy nest for a special experience.
Space
THE DOOR OF THE SOL
it is a typical Canarian-style rustic house, recovered with a fine conservative restoration, which maintains the original authenticity, while equipped with modern comforts.
The entire home enjoys WiFi high speed internet access. Furthermore, in each room we find a heat pump air conditioner, which heats and cools as needed, a 50-litre rapid boiler, so that everyone can wash without running out of hot water, a washing machine available for guests, a drying rack and an iron. with ironing board, hairdryer.
The house can comfortably accommodate 4 people, having two large rooms and two bathrooms, but if necessary it can accommodate two more people, using the comfortable sofa bed in the living room.
The kitchen area, illuminated by a large remote-controlled velux, is equipped with all the necessary equipment: large two-door refrigerator with freezer compartment, dishwasher, induction hob for faster cooking, microwave oven and kettle, as well as everything needed for cooking.
In the living area, in addition to the comfortable sofa bed, we find a television and TVSAT decoder which receives all the Italian and foreign channels from HotBird Eutelsat 13° East.
In the small outdoor patio, however, there is a corner suitable for having a relaxing breakfast.
Upstairs there is a large terrace (azotea) for sunbathing, chatting or having dinner with friends, furnished with everything you need, including a barbecue.
From the "azotea" you can enjoy a spectacular panorama: in front of the immense expanse of the ocean, with the island of La Gomera in the foreground and, if you're lucky, move a little, El Hierro to the left and La Palma to the right , behind the majestic presence of Teide, the great volcano.
Located in the village of Taucho, (Spanish national heritage), it is a "meditation" house, for tranquility and silence, while being a few kilometers away from services, entertainment and Playa Paraiso, one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife.
It is a house which, due to its position, is free from snakes and, being in the hills (950 asl), from cucarachas.
Due to its location, it allows you to do various sports, such as paragliding (a flying school is located just above the village), trekking on foot or by bicycle, bird watching (canaries, wood pigeons, hawks and vultures are resident). .
Guest access
The structure is designed for 4 people plus any additional 2. All its parts are fully available to guests.
When there are only 2 guests, the smallest bedroom will be excluded from use, leaving the rest of the structure available.
Other things to keep in mind
The Puerta del Sol is located in the rural town of Taucho which was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2005. Here the protagonist is the traditional Canarian architecture. The town is located about 950 meters above sea level and it is a real pleasure to get lost in a walk through its alleys. In the town we find a Catholic church and an interesting hermitage dedicated to the Virgin of Coromoto. Also a short walk from La Puerta del Sol is the Taucho restaurant, which offers really tasty dishes at more than reasonable prices.
