Positive: The Magic Garden guest house is an oasis of peace and calm, but still only 15 minutes walk from the banks of the Nile with access to both east and west Luxor. Breakfast was plentiful, varied, fresh and delicious: bread, pancakes, fruit, yoghurt, tea/coffee and the offer of cereal if we wanted it. The rooms were large and clean, and the beds were firm. Aircon was efficient. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of fresh bottled water which was included and accessible at all times. Lovely to sit out on the balcony, or around the pool. The pool itself was clean and perfect for cooling off in. The roof top was beautiful at sunset, and during the call to prayer where you can hear the muezzin all around Luxor - it's really magical. Karim was so helpful - he was out on a desert tour with some other guests when we arrived but his staff took brilliant care of us, and cooked delicious (good value) meals for us. Karim arranged a 2 day tour and driver for us to see the sights of Luxor, and I cannot recommend this enough - it was so good and we got so much more out of our stay than we would have otherwise. It was so lovely to come back to the Magic Garden after a busy day sightseeing - just so peaceful and chill! If you're a parent who used to travel, but stopped when you had kids, the Magic Garden guesthouse gives you luxury backpacker vibes and makes you feel like you're "travelling", but with all home comforts, feels very safe and secure, and gave the kids a little taste of adventure away from hotels. Karim also arranged all our taxi transfers for us to/from the red sea and the airport, which was brilliant. Highly recommend.
