Inside, Sugar Bird Rest is decorated with colorful tropical fabrics and the artwork of local and Caribbean artists. Its fully appointed kitchen affords easy preparation of casual and formal meals. Outside Sugar Bird features immediate access to the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea, which lap gently onto the Carina Bay shoreline just 50 feet away from this beachfront villa. Snorkel to Carina Bay’s own barrier reef which comes all the way into the shoreline just west of the house. You have easy beach access to it, at just 600 yards west of Sugar Bird. Or just relax all day—but remember to watch for Dolphins inside the reef! Talk to the local fishermen who is mooring right next door allows you first choice of their fresh catch of Red Snapper, Lobsters, and other fresh local seafood. Recipe for Snapper—stuff and cover with chopped garlic and lemons, salt and pepper to taste, wrap in tin foil and put on grill for 3/4 hour at low heat.
You may never want to leave the house once you arrive at Sugar Bird…but if you do, you can spend days exploring St. Croix’s historic towns and sites. You can shop in an array of exquisite local shops featuring the work of local artisans or duty-free items from around the globe. Ask the fishermen who moor their boat in front of the lot next door to sell you fresh fish. Meanwhile access to other beaches and fine and casual dining on the island is unparalleled.
