1 Bedroom Apartment in West Bayside, Portland
The unit is cozy and quiet tucked at the rear of the building on the first floor. There are privacy/light block shades for your convenience. I have a very eclectic and unique style that many people enjoy. There’s a bit of an Egyptian theme in the apartment now but it will always be changing. I like to promote friends’ art work and I will always have live plants to keep the air fresh.

The Space:
Steps to the Old Port full of shops, cafes, museums and more. Across from the Merrill Auditorium and City Hall and the Federal and District Courthouses. There’s one parking spot in an adjacent lot available for an extra fee ($20/day max $100/week) as well as coin-op laundry in the basement ($2wash & $2dry). The basement can be accessed by the door on Myrtle St. with a key provided by host. I do charge a $50 non-refundable pet fee per pet so please don’t forget to mention if you are traveling with your fur baby! There is a window unit a/c that is installed for the warmer months and removed for winter. If you are concerned whether or not a/c is available for your stay, please ask.
Guest Access:
The laundry room is in the basement and you will need to exit the building to access. The door is on the Myrtle St. side of the building. You can find the key, which opens the laundry room as well as the back door, on the gold plate on the side table where the Keurig machine lives. There are coin operated machines and you will need to find your own quarters. I usually go to a carwash or a laundromat to snag some. The parking space, available for $20 per day with a max charge of $100 per week, is just across the cobble stone street (Chapel St.) and is kitty-corner to the building. Spaces are all assigned so please park ONLY in Space 2. Please feel free to message me with any questions.
The Neighborhood:
The building is across the street from the Merrill Auditorium and City Hall. Just a couple blocks from the famed Old Port and near the courts, library, lots of awesome restaurants and boutiques for shopping. There are several parks nearby. 295 is just around the corner as well as Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s just a couple blocks away. Both the East End/Munjoy Hill and West End are about 20 minute walks.
Getting Around:
Portland is very walkable. The peninsula is about a mile long so it can be walked easily in under and hour. I would recommend walking or biking or there are always uber and lyfts minutes away 24 hours a day. There is a public transit system that stops right out front but it has limited service and can be tricky to navigate and schedule.
Other Things to Note:
The tap water in the kitchen faucet is filtered when set to cold and the ice in the freezer is made with this same filtered water. The privacy shades can be set to shear to allow light in but not eyes or closed to block nearly all outside light. There is an AppleTV available for use on the bedroom TV. Also, I have a YouTube.tv subscription that can be accessed by pushing the home button on the tv remote and selecting the YouTube.tv icon. You will be responsible for all extra charges for pay-per-view tv service during your stay. (Both the tv and the sound bar audio need to be set to “Optical” for the sound to go through the speaker system).
The smoke alarms are fairly sensitive so please always use the exhaust hood when cooking anything. Items left in the the refrigerator or on the shelves are available to you. I usually keep milk and sugar available for coffee/tea as well as some fruit and candy to snack on. The wine is also complimentary so please, crack a bottle!
AirConditioner is available for warmer months and removed in colder months. If you are concerned if it will be available for your stay please ask.
Please RECYCLE
Here in Maine all bottles and cans are returnable for a deposit! Yes every bottle and can is worth 5-15 cents! If you don’t want to return them yourself then leave them in the blue bin with other recycling and someone else will collect them.
What goes in the BLUE BIN?
-Paper & paper products
-Cardboard/paperboard
-Rinsed out food cans
-All Plastic except plastic shopping bags
—NO FOOD WASTE OR STYROFOAM—
Everything else should go in the trash.
I offer longer-term(5+ days)guests the option of weekly cleaning services for an extra $50 each cleaning.
Also, you will find some basic cleaning supplies that you are encouraged to take advantage of should you need to.
There is an a/c unit installed in the warmer summer months but it is not available throughout the cooler winter months. Cracking a window cools it down pretty quickly during this time.
Interaction with Guests:
I can be as involved with your visit as you like. We will communicate mostly here but I can always meet you in person if you would like. There are other tenants in the building and they’re all very friendly. Please be mindful that you are in an apartment building in an old house so voices/barks and music carry from apartment to apartment.
