Summary: I’ve been travelling to this region of Spain for 20+ years, the location of the house was outstanding. La Fosca is a perfect beach for families and the 30 minute walk to Castell was ideal for a more natural experience. The shared pool was pleasant, quiet and well kept. However, the house itself was filthy. On arrival there were lines of ants through the house, all the floors were very dirty. In the kitchen all the drawers smelled very bad so we had to wash all the cutlery etc. Unfortunately no cleaning materials were left for us to use so we had to go out and buy some straight away. Other areas of the house were very dusty and generally tired. In the main bedroom there was no mattress protector, just a thin sheet laid across the bare mattress. No rooms had pillows! I had agreed by prior arrangement for a travel cot to be available however when we arrived it was no where to be seen. On telling the agency the cot and all pillows were missing they quickly brought some however the pillows were lumpy and stained. After we had settled in I told the agency that the house was so dirty yet they still insisted I paid a 130€ cleaning charge which seemed extortionate given the circumstances. WiFi information was provided on an illegible sticker next to the microwave(?!). When we arrived there was no hot water, when I enquired with the agent I was told to check the boiler which was unplugged, I would expect this to be done before arrival so we had amenities as soon as we arrived. As I said, having travelled in Spain a lot I’ve come to expect a high level of cleaning, second to none usually so I was especially disappointed. This house really could be amazing if a few considerations were made: -better cleaning -invest in quality bedding / pillows -provide toilet paper -leave some basic cleaning materials so guests can maintain cleanliness during their stay -provide hand soap -provide additional towels -provide tea towel/ kitchen towel -a small information sheet letting people know useful things like, WiFi code, emergency contacts, location of bins, taxi company, restaurant recommendations etc. Most properties I’ve rented have this and it makes a big difference! At the moment this house isn’t good value for money however with a few small changes could be!
