Nestled in the lowlands of Aberdeenshire, the House of Elrick Estate is a family home which has only passed hands five times in 300 years. Built at the height of the Scottish Enlightenment period in 1720, it hosted lively discussions from some of the most respected creative, philosophical and scientific minds of the time, and also welcomed both Bonnie Prince Charlie and the famous illustrator Eleanor Vere Boyle, renowned for illustrating stories for Hans Christian Andersen and Alfred Lord Tennyson, as well as writing poetry about Elrick.
The estate has been extensively renovated to provide a wonderful exclusive environment for that special occasion or get together. The gardens date back to the 17th century and with woodland areas surrounding areas of parkland and gardens, a wander around the grounds is sure to restore and revive you; the Burn of Straloch runs alongside the 52 acres. Enjoy the apple store where you can stock your fridge, listen to music, and enjoy a dram by the fire pit or enjoy an informal barbecue on the large, decked terrace. The House of Elrick grounds also features a busy working artisan gin distillery, which produce a range of premium quality spirits. The distillery is mainly known for its award-winning House of Elrick Original Gin,which is sold around the world. Tours and tastings can be arranged directly with the owner. Beach 8 miles.
