Turi is only a few kilometers away from important tourist locations such as Alberobello, Valle d'Itria, Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Matera, Bari and Castel del Monte. In an hour and a half you can reach Salento as well.
The house, built for several centuries, is located in the "ancient walls" of the historical center of Turi and overlooks the pretty piazzetta of the old Hospital better known in the country as the "Piazza delle Femmine" (in the dialect "Chiazz d 'femmn" ) because, until a few decades ago, all the laborers gathered at dawn to look for wages and go to work in the fields.
The same square was first occupied by a hospital built in 1800 thanks to funds funded by a benefactor already in the 16th century. After about a century the hospital was closed down and collapsed around the 1950s.
Turi is a quiet little town in the Baranja hinterland known for its production and export throughout the world of its Ferrovie Cherries and, in general, for its precious gastronomic traditions. Turi is home to a historic prison that hosted Gramsci and Pertini; in it, you can admire pretty historic churches and the medieval Marchesale Palace of the Venetian Marquis.
Turi is about 250 meters above sea level and enjoys a pleasant dry climate both in winter and summer. At Turi you can go biking for country and hill routes, take walks, delight yourself with local wines, pastries and delicacies.
