Positive: Beautiful barn, well equipped, clean, warm and comfortable The scenery was stunning in the snow The support of the community; The owners and neighbours were outstanding at digging out my son's car when he was stuck on the neighbours drive on arrival, collecting grit and eventually driving it to safety. Similarly the neighbouring farmer was superb in getting me back to the track when I too was stuck.
Negative: We understand the owners were unable to control the weather or keep the driveways, and roads free of ice and snow, and they did all they could to help us. However, had we have anticipated the impact of the weather, we would have chosen a location where the roads and paths were gritted, so we could spend more time out and about as a family Our stay coincided with the freezing cold, snowy weekend (-6 on our arrival!). The owner messaged me in the morning to say the track was lethal, so we ensured we had wellies and walking sticks for us and coats and towels for the dogs. The barn was beautiful inside but regrettably the outside was challenging for us all, and by Monday was completely inaccessible for my parents.(Celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary) Fortunately the owners used their 4x4 to transport our bags and them to the car door. Would much prefer an 11am checkout
