The Snug is a Victorian English Heritage Grade II Listed Property built in the early to mid 1800's and has been completely refurbished. The property retains many of its original features whilst offering a comfortable and well equipped holiday home for up to 4 people.
The Snug is arranged over 3 floors and the delightful sunny courtyard has the original Privy now converted to a Laundry Room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The ground floor offers a cosy lounge with log effect electric stove, comfortable seating for 4 guests comprising a 3 seat leather sofa, comfortable chair and a leather footstool. A folding table and chairs for dining. The Kitchen is very well equipped for those wishing to cook at home and includes a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, Tassimo coffee maker and dishwasher.
From the kitchen, stairs lead to a landing with original floorboards and wood panelled wall. First floor bedroom with king sized bed and first floor bathroom of good size, warm and offering freestanding bath and rain shower over.
A further staircase leads to the second floor bedroom with king sized bed. This room has a sloping ceiling to one side and roof skylight.
Please Note: in keeping with the age of this property, the stairs are narrow and fairly steep and some may need to "duck" for doorways.
We readily welcome kiddies but for safety reasons children should be 5 years of age or over.
The house has gas central heating with radiators fitted with thermostats and 2 electric fan heaters if the weather is exceptionally chilly!
Great quality high thread count linen is provided on both beds and plenty of fluffy towels. Please bring your own beach towels.
The Snug has a secluded, sunny brick paved courtyard with table and chairs for outside dining. There is rear access to the courtyard through a bolted timber gate offering security for those wanting to bring bicycles.
Parking for the property is close-by in long-stay car parks (nearest approx, 5 minutes walk). We are happy to offer the use of a pre-paid long-stay parking permit. This gives our guests free parking in Lymington and approximately 30 car parks throughout the New Forest District during their stay. There is a dropped pavement immediately outside The Snug to enable luggage to be dropped off and loaded from a car. Lymington has a train station for those wishing to leave their car at home.
The Snug is situated in a bustling location opposite Waitrose Supermarket and just a short walk from all the amenities Lymington High Street has to offer. Shopping includes a Marks and Spencer Food Hall just 5 minutes walk away and a Tesco supermarket further along the High Street. There are plenty of independent stores to browse, restaurants, take-a-ways, pubs and bars. Enjoy Lymington market on Saturday, the Charter was first granted in the 13th century. This is the largest Street Market in the New Forest and runs every Saturday from 8:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Lymington Quay can be found at the bottom of the high street following the cobbled pedestrian street down to the water front with its two Marinas and two Sailing Clubs. Enjoy an ice cream or buy some fresh seafood while watching the world go by! Boat trips around the Solent can be purchased here. Just across the Marina is the Wightlink ferry sailing to Yarmouth , Isle of Wight frequently throughout the day (approximately 40 minutes sailing time). Unique to Lymington are the Sea Water Baths open throughout the summer months,
New Forest National Park is on the doorstep with beautiful ancient forest for horse riding, walking and cycling. Open top buses run during the summer months touring the New Forest. Enjoy the New Forest ponies, donkeys and cows and if you’re lucky spot the deer. Pigs are released into the Forest during pannage season around October. The pigs are allowed to roam the Forest freely to eat the acorns - acorns are dangerous if ponies, donkeys and cattle eat them and can lead to severe illness. Please remember - do not feed the forest animals
The nearest beach can be found at Milford on Sea just 4 miles away. From here you can walk the Spit to Hurst Castle built in Henry VIII reign. The views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and The Needles are worth seeking out.
