Positive: I loved my stay at Half Moon House. It has such a lovely energy and vibes. It’s quirky, cosy and it has so much charm and character. It’s one big room with curtains to divide spaces at night. There is a wood-burning stove that made evenings feel wonderfully snug, and having a kitchen gave me the option to cook. The bed was also super comfy. The bathroom is just across a corridor and has a large shower and lots of hot water. This is an older property like most buildings in Hay and has a fascinating history. Tam, the host is lovely and gives great recommendations for town. There’s a radio and lots of books to read while you’re there. The location is brilliant, right in the middle of Hay-on-Wye, so I could wander out to the bookshops and cafés and be back in minutes.
Negative: There was nothing I disliked about my stay. I was able to fully relax, I just wished I’d stayed longer.
Summary: Cosy authentic Hay On Wye retreat.
