Summary: This cosy cottage was in a perfect location in the heart of Port Isaac. Wonderful if you want to be in the center of things, but it is right next to a pub, which means lots of people chatting as they smoke outside your window, and early wake-up noise from deliveries. It's also a steep 15 minute walk from the allocated parking spot at the top of Port Isaac, but you can drive down to unload and load luggage. It's exactly as you'd expect an old fisherman's cottage to be: full of charm and character, but very low-ceilinged and tiny! Coming downstairs in the morning is a bit like abseiling, and I lost count of the number of times I cracked my head (bumpers on the low beam by the stairs might be nice) - but that's all part of the charm. If you want loads of space, book a Holiday Inn. The cottage technically has 3 bedrooms, but I wouldn't try fitting more than 2 adults in it. The double bedroom was very small, and the bed very uncomfortable. A mattress topper would solve this. There was lots of hot water and the kitchen and bathroom were spotless, though a few cobwebs and dead spiders lurked in the corners of other rooms, and there's a lot of damp. Lots of fluffy towels and pillows too, but no plug-in kettle (unusual for the UK) and the stove top requires a degree to figure out. Directions would be helpful. Also, a few starter tea-bags or a bar of soap would be nice touches. Overall, great for a night or two, but I wouldn't do more than that again.
