Positive: Beautiful house, part of an ancient palace, in a very small village in the Spanish Castilian countryside. The property is very ample with four full bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and several sofa beds, futons and beds in a cozy perch above the living room. Most of it is traditional, with the lower floor, where there is a games room and a sauna, recently renovated. As is the outdoors, with the swimming pool. We were looking for a large, quiet place to spend time together as extended family in the summer. Some of us had to work remotely and the WiFi was very capable of accommodating us, and we enjoyed the cool local weather (the village is at almost 1000 meters of elevation) broke the stereotype of scorching Castilian summers. The landscapes around are gorgeous and we enjoyed running and mountain biking (provided with the house) in the many paths around the village, with absolutely no motor vehicles to break our peace. The history in the neighboring villages are also very interesting and the teenagers and college students amongst us really enjoyed learning about it and watching the impressive medieval structures, some of them over a thousand years old.
Negative: It’s not a modern hotel room. Everything is functional but some of the furniture and bathroom equipment is not exactly new. We really enjoyed it, it is full of character (it accommodated all our cooking, included a large outdoor bbq fue the delicious local meats and charcuterie, and my ninety year old could go up and downstairs and use the bathroom), but it helps to understand and bring the right attitude.
