Positive: The School House has beautiful views of the water and is peaceful and quiet …

Negative: The cottage itself is very basic and feels tired and somewhat neglected. We heard mice in the roof; we were expected to buy own firewood and fireplace didn’t work very well; the shower was weak and had a broken shower door; the pillows were thin and uncomfortable; the single mattresses were very firm; there were holes in the sheets and sofa cushion; kitchen housed a very noisy dishwasher that didn’t work properly, a stove/oven where you can’t read the numbers as it’s so old …. And the list goes on. We were expected to take our recycling to nearest recycle centre and strip our own beds. We have never been asked to do this before when paying £250 a night. We are staying somewhere tonight for the same price and have been provided with pastries, milk, butter, new appliances and just a warm, welcoming vibe. It was very hard to locate the accommodation in the dark even though instructions were ok - there is no signage. We would not recommend. This historic spot needs some serious TLC.

Summary: Great location but place needs a few things sorted to justify the cost
