Positive: Xi Valley Apartment was an absolute gem for our family of three + Nan! The place is huge – two full bathrooms and loads of living space make it perfect for families or a small group that doesn’t want to feel cramped. We stayed six nights and really appreciated how well-equipped it is: powerful A/C in every room, a big fridge-freezer, washing machine, and a proper set of kitchen utensils, so cooking at “home” when we wanted to was a breeze. The Location hit the sweet spot for us. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood about 2 km from the centre of town: just a relaxed 30-minute walk, or a ¥5–6 (AUD $1-2) Didi ride when we had groceries or the little one was too tired to walk. A handy little street only 100 m away from the apartment has a small selection of restaurants (the BBQ spot is fantastic), plus a convenience store, massage shop and chemist. The National Park East Gate is roughly 1 km away, so you can beat the crowds at opening time. Our host was phenomenal. She pre-arranged private cars for both arrival and departure, met us at 11 pm to help with luggage, and was back at 6 am on check-out day! Throughout the week she messaged tips, arranged our 4-day National Park pass and Grand Canyon tickets at a discount, and generally made life easy for Western travellers unfamiliar with the area. Great value, super comfortable, and the kind of personal service that turns a trip into a standout memory. We’d book Xi Valley again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie.
